If you have been pool mining but want to support the original ETHC chain, here are some basic instructions to solo mine. Keep in mind that the non-forked ETHC chain will have less miners on it initially so the difficulty level will drop making solo mining easier.

First download the latest geth client: Once downloaded unzip it and open your command prompt or console and cd to the directory geth is in then startup geth with fork opposition, something like this: geth.exe --oppose-dao-fork --rpc --rpcaddr 'localhost' --rpcport 8545 This starts up geth on your local machine using the default port 8545 which ethminer will look for.
